Welcome to the Entomology Congress 2027
Dear colleagues,
We warmly invite you to participate in the Entomology Congress 2027, which will take place from 8 to 11 March 2027 at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig.
The Entomology Congresses are biennial international events covering a broad range of topics related to insects and other arthropods. They bring together specialists and interested guests to discuss current research, methodological advances, and strategies for future challenges. Presentations will be held in German and English.
Venue: The Leipziger KUBUS
The architecturally distinctive building, opened in 2004, combines a clear cubic form with a transparent design language. In addition to event spaces, the KUBUS also houses offices and laboratories and is closely integrated into everyday research activities. Its flexible, modular rooms provide ideal conditions for conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings of various sizes.
The UFZ Leipzig
The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH – UFZ is one of the world’s leading institutions in environmental research and enjoys broad recognition across society. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, it is one of 18 research centres in Germany. The UFZ investigates the complex interactions between humans and the environment in managed and disturbed landscapes, particularly in densely populated urban and industrial areas as well as near‑natural ecosystems. Its mission is to develop scientifically grounded solutions and technologies for the challenges arising at the interface between environment and society.
As a reliable partner, the UFZ supports policymakers, industry, and civil society in better understanding the environmental consequences of human activities and in establishing sound foundations for decision‑making. Its researchers develop concepts and methods to protect and sustainably secure natural resources. They benefit from long‑standing experience in integrated environmental research, a strong network of national and international collaborations, and modern research infrastructures.
The UFZ is funded 90% by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and 5% each by the Free State of Saxony and the State of Saxony‑Anhalt. In addition to its main site in Leipzig, located in the Leipzig Science Park in the city’s northeast, the UFZ also operates facilities in Halle, Magdeburg, and Bad Lauchstädt.
Leipzig Science Park
The Leipzig Science Park is a 16‑hectare research campus located in the northeastern part of the city. It brings together research institutions, university departments, and innovative technology companies. Around 1,650 people work here in an interdisciplinary manner on topics such as the environment, energy, and new materials.
A Cultural Hub in Central Germany
Leipzig looks back on a long and historically significant past. More than 1,000 years ago, the city emerged at the crossroads of major trade routes. Today, Leipzig presents itself as a dynamic economic and cultural centre in Central Germany. The heart of the city beats within its compact centre, covering only about one square kilometre. In the carefully restored historic trade fair palaces and arcades—renovated after 1990—numerous shops, restaurants, and cafés invite visitors to stroll, explore, and linger.
